Assignment 2 (group) = 15 marks
Assignment 3 (individual) = 15 marks
Assignment 1 and 2 are to be handed up during tutorial. Assignment 3 is to be handed up during lectures.
Late Submissions are to be made during the following week.
Penalty for handing in assignments late = 3 marks per week
Final Exam = 50%
Assignment 1 (Individual) – Personality and Job-Fit
The purpose of this assignment is to understand yourself and to be more self-aware. This also helps in making appropriate career decisions

Values - What do you think is important in life/career? Attitudes – do you have anything that you particularly like or dislike?

Conclusion – does your personality and other characteristics match the job that you intend to pursue? If yes, why? What aspects, if any, of your characteristics, are unsuitable for the job, and what do you intend to do about them?

Assignment 2 (Group) – Understanding The Stages of Group Development
The purpose of this assignment is to experience first-hand, how it feels like to be in a group that evolves through the five stages of group development. This assignment takes the concept from theory to actual practice.

Introduction
Stage 1 Forming – Getting to know one another. Uncertainty.
Stage 2 Storming – Discussion and decision of position of chairperson, treasurer etc. Discussion of possible places to visit and activities to do.
Stage 3 Norming – Agreement on the place to visit and activity to do. Allocation of tasks.
Stage 4 Performing – Description of the visit and activities conducted. Did it go as planned? Did everyone carry out their tasks as expected?
Stage 5 Adjourning – What where your feelings at that time? Happy? Frustrated? Why?
Conclusion – What did you learn from this exercise about group or team effectiveness? If you have to do it again, is there anything that you would have done differently?

Assignment 3 (Group) – Interview with the CEO / Human resource / Training manager
The purpose of this assignment is to find out what are the soft skills that are found to be lacking among new graduates. When you find out the answer, this will help you prepare yourself for an employment interview upon graduation. This will also help you search for a suitable organisation to do your "Latihan Industri."
It is not necessary to link with any OB theories here, as the purpose of this assignment is more practical in nature.
Interviews with other types of managers are permissible. However more marks are given for the following cases:
- The person interviewed is the CEO, human resource or training manager
- The person and/or the company is well known/ large.
Each group shall interview at least one manager from different organisations.
For 5 or 4 member groups – interview 2 managers from different organisations.
For 7 or 6 member groups – interview 3 managers from different organisations
For 9 or 8 member groups – interview 4 managers from different organisations
NB: These managers should be at least 30 years old and the organization should have at least 50 employees
Interview each manager regarding:
1)
Their educational background and experience.
2)
What do they look for in a resume.
3)
What are the skills lacking among fresh graduates nowadays?
4)
What do they look for when interviewing candidates?
5)
How can candidates better prepare themselves for interviews
6)
What is the company's planning regarding soft skills training for their staff in the next 9 months? If so, what kind of training?
7)
Whether they have heard of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and if so, what are their views and opinion regarding it as a form of training and development?
NB: Give details of the name, designation, contact details and organisation details. I will be calling the managers at random to find out whether you have actually conducted the survey. Students who give false information will be severly penalised! Marks will be given primarily for being able to gain access to the CEO (Leader), Human Resource or Training Manager. Write down their name, designation, company address, email address & telephone number.
